Pay-Per-Click Tips for Law Firms

Pay-Per-Click Tips for Law Firms

When it comes to advertising online through Google AdWords, the personal injury space is one of the most competitive and expensive. Law firms can easily spend hundreds of thousands of dollars per month on digital ads, as keywords related to law can cost over $50 per click. This high cost is generally justified by the high lifetime value of law firm clients. Online pay-per-click advertising is also one of the most efficient and trackable lead generation sources for law firms. In this blog, we’ll discuss the importance of paid search for law firms — and how your firm can utilize these ads to establish your online presence and get more cases than ever.

Why is paid search (or search engine marketing) so important for law firms?

When someone needs a personal injury lawyer, it is often a timely situation. While traditional advertising (e.g. television ads and billboards) is important for developing brand awareness, in an event where someone needs a lawyer quickly, a potential lead will likely reach out via a Google search. This is where inbound marketing and paid search becomes important — your firm needs to be present when someone reaches out.

Tips for Google AdWords for personal injury lawyers:

Understand your firm’s budget. While pay-per-click advertising for law firms results in high returns, the monthly ad spend is not insignificant. Research the cost per acquisition for cases in your area to better understand what your minimum monthly spend will need to be to stay competitive. You want to ensure that your budget is high enough to get enough clicks to get leads.

Optimize your keywords for searches. Testing and optimizing your keywords will help keep costs down by only targeting qualified leads. To do this, think of what a potential case might search for when needing a lawyer: Injured in car accident, need lawyer from car accident in [city name], etc. Then, use the keywords from these searches. You can also use the Google Keywords Planner to research related keywords so you don’t miss any.

Use long-tail keywords. To qualify leads even further, use long-tail keywords (very specific keyword phrases). These are cheaper than single keywords and are highly targeted.

Focus on your location. Set up location targeting in Google AdWords to make sure your ads are prioritized for people in your area. You can decide the radius for targeting, too — from a few blocks to an entire region. If your firm ranks well for the search term “lawyer + city,” you will land more cases and lower your cost per lead.

Use differentiated copy to stand out from other ads. There are dozens of personal injury lawyers in any given city, and most provide the same services. So, how do you stand out in the crowd? One way is to get creative with the copy.

List your phone number in the ad. Since a large portion of Google searches happen on mobile devices now, use click-to-call and click-to-text ads to increase the number of leads that come from your ads.

Link to relevant pages. Make sure your ads link to a landing page that aligns with the ad copy. For instance, if your ad targets someone injured in a car accident, link to a landing page with resources for someone injured in a car accident, as well as a form and contact information. For added appeal, include a video on your landing page to create a memorable connection with the potential client!

Considering hiring an agency for paid search management. Pay-per-click for law firms can be costly, but the return on the investment can be huge. Because of the competitiveness of the field, consider hiring an agency to manage your law firm’s paid search campaigns. Agencies specializing in paid search can ultimately help keep costs down.

  • Google AdWords is based on an auction system that rewards businesses who have high-quality ad campaigns with lower costs and better ad placement.
  • You can exercise tight control over how your AdWords budget is spent using tactics like ad scheduling, geotargeting, and device targeting.
  • The average cost per click in Google AdWords is between $1 and $2 on the search network. The average CPC on the Display Network is under $1.
  • The most expensive keywords in AdWords and Bing Ads cost $50 or more per click. These are generally highly competitive keywords in industries that have high customer lifetime values, like law and insurance.
  • Giant retailers can spend up to $50 million per year on paid search in AdWords.
  • The average small business using AdWords spends between $9,000 and $10,000 per month on their Google paid search campaigns. That’s $100,000 to $120,000 per year.

Utilized Click On Solutions to help do a few plans for my logo and the work they did was first class! Was sick of procuring individuals at a mid-cost and getting alright work. At long last got an OK cost with a quality item also. I highly recommend them to everyone. They are the best in their field.

I just never knew I could get in touch with so many people just by using some simple marketing tools and targeted Google keywords. The Click on Solution guys (and gals) have been a huge part of the growth that my business has been through in 2017. Being a stay-at-home mom with a creative streak, I have started sowing wedding dresses out of my home in south Florida about 4 years ago, when my first baby was born. Recently, however, I’ve been desperately hoping to increase my clientele throughout the US. I’ve read about other folks who’ve done that, and thought, what is stopping me? I am so glad I signed up for Click on Solutions, because guess what?? I even get orders from around the world now! Places like Canada, Germany and Ireland, to name a few. The best part (besides the obvious increase in revenue) is that learning about all these things, like targeted marketing and business plans, and Google AdWords, has been such a great process! Ronnie and Michelle have explained to me what they’re going to do every step of the way and helped me get on the first page (!) on Google, and it really just tightened my marketing to target those women that want a unique wedding dress made by yours truly! So fun and so cool, I am thoroughly thankful to you guys, and I already told Paul there—when he finally proposes to his girlfriend, I’d like first dibs on designing a one-of-a-kind wedding dress for her! Thank you again, guys!

The thing I LOVED about Click on Solutions is that it’s a one-stop shop! So easy. You just tell them what you need, and they do it. In my case, I needed the full package: a website from scratch, social media presence from scratch, any online marketing from scratch, etc. Ronnie and his team not only built me the most elegant and perfect website, but also helped me to understand and utilize social media for marketing. I’m a hair dresser, and have done pretty dope events for people here in LA, and never showed off my work. The team immediately got all hands on, and had me send them photos of my work, descriptions of what I can do, and how much I charge etc. Once I did, and they had built me the website and the social media platforms, they’ve begun using the budget that I had allocated to this in order to get me more online presence through PPC. I am still not an expert on how this works, but they’ve managed to do a lot with a relatively modest budget that I had to offer (I know it’s modest because my mentor who’d referred me to them had like a 10X bigger budget than mine). All I can say is I’m thrilled to be doing more events and documenting my work and posting it, and getting referrals from all these avenues. I’m busy and happy! Thank you!

A lot of the stuff that they were able to help me with were things that I was familiar with BUT they kind basically showed me how my knowledge looks like on steroids, so to speak. So although I'm quite savvy about all these things marketing your website and expanding your clientele through social media, I was still able to make such an amazing use of what this team had to offer! — I got so much more clients and expanded my business through their marketing strategies, that I literally had to hire an assistant. As a by-the-way, I’ve always been envious of people who have personal assistants, and I had always wanted to join that elite group. And now I did, and I wholly feel that it’s thanks to Click on Solutions.
